Thai herbs second to none! AloEx reveals lab results — reduced hair loss and new growth on par with standard medications

A milestone for hair-care science! AloEx unveils research from the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR), proving that 'Thai herbs' — processed through AloEx's proprietary extraction method — deliver results on par with Minoxidil and Finasteride for both stopping hair fall and stimulating new growth.

Hair fall and thinning chip away at many people's confidence — yet finding products that actually work and are also safe isn't easy. Today, medicine relies on two standard drugs for these concerns: doctors prescribe Finasteride to reduce hormone-driven hair fall, and Minoxidil to thicken hair and stimulate new growth.

AloEx has reaffirmed its leadership in natural innovation by submitting its proprietary AloEx herbal extract for efficacy testing at TISTR. Benchmarked against both standard drugs, the results show that AloEx extract alone reduces hormone-driven hair fall close to Finasteride, and stimulates new hair growth close to Minoxidil.

Proven extract performance

This test used human follicle dermal papilla cells as the primary model for evaluating the herbal extract's efficacy AloEx Hydrosol Complex Extract & AloEx Phenolic Complex Extract Results were benchmarked against Minoxidil and Finasteride to confirm the efficacy of AloEx herbal extract. The test had two key components:

  • MTT assay to measure the ability to stimulate follicle-cell division and to screen for cytotoxicity
  • Sandwich ELISA technique to analyze the inhibition of 5α-reductase — a key driver of hair fall

Efficacy at REDUCING HAIR FALL vs Finasteride

One of the main causes of baldness and hair fall is the hormone DHT, produced through the action of the enzyme 5-alpha reductase which damages hair roots. Modern medicine commonly prescribes Finasteride to reduce DHT-driven hair fall — available in both topical and oral forms, for both men and women.

Finasteride is a drug that works by inhibiting the 5α-reductase enzyme, which converts testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone) — the hormone behind follicle miniaturization and genetic hair loss. It's used both for male-pattern hair loss and for benign prostatic hyperplasia, helping slow shedding and keep follicles healthier. Finasteride should be used under medical supervision because of potential hormonal side effects, and it isn't suitable for pregnant women or those planning pregnancy.

5α-reductase inhibition test results

The TISTR research report reveals:

  • AloEx herbal extracts: inhibits 5α-reductase by as much as 73.55 ± 2.14%,
  • Finasteride: has a 5α-reductase inhibition rate of 82.18 ± 1.74%
These results show that AloEx's herbal extract is effective at 'reducing hair fall' at a level close to Finasteride, with AloEx herbal extract inhibits 5α-reductase at 89.50% of Finasteride's level

Power to STIMULATE NEW HAIR GROWTH vs Minoxidil

Beyond stopping hair fall, reawakening follicles to produce new strands matters just as much. The follicle-cell division test compared AloEx with Minoxidil — the drug commonly prescribed today for patients with hair loss who want to stimulate new growth.

Minoxidil is a hair-growth drug that works by dilating blood vessels in the scalp, delivering more blood and nutrients to follicles. This extends the hair growth cycle and helps weakened strands regain strength. Minoxidil is widely used in topical and spray forms for men and women experiencing hair loss — especially genetic hair loss.

Follicle-cell division test results

Testing the ability to stimulate division of human follicle dermal papilla cells revealed:

  • AloEx herbal extracts: follicle-cell division rate increased to 68.79 ± 7.40% within 48 hours
  • Minoxidil: cell-division rate of 78.25 ± 2.10% within 48 hours

These results demonstrate that AloEx herbal extract drives follicle-cell division at 87.91% of Minoxidil's level compared with Minoxidil — in other words, AloEx herbal extracts are a powerful alternative for thicker hair and new growth, supporting continuous follicle-cell development.
